Have you ever found yourself gazing out into space
and wondering what life is all about?
Have you ever felt lonely?
Have you ever felt lost?
Have you ever wondered what is the meaning of life?
Or more importantly what is the meaning of my life?
How do I create the new life I secretly desire?
Why can I never seem to feel that love I so desire?
Many of us found ourselves surrounded by people on a daily basis, yet inside we feel all alone. A part of us feels empty. We spend our lives searching for ways to fill the emptiness. We abuse our bodies with drugs and toxins, we fill our surroundings with objects and pleasures. We continue searching; as the more we acquire, the more we want. And still we feel empty. We start to push our limits, and test our extremes. We challenge ourselves and become addicted to the endorphins. And still we feel empty. We learn to want and want, without understanding the true essence of giving. And we ask ourselves, what is this life all about? Why is it I feel this empty?
Well today might be the opportunity to make a change. Start searching for new ways to explore ideas that excite you. Start filling the void. Until a few years ago, I had spent most of my life drifting from one experience to the next. My needs were very simple. I enjoyed making people happy and having a good time. I didn't have a burning passion. I wasn't one of these people who knew from the age of five what it was they were going to be when they grew up. All I knew was that I wanted to be rich (Don't we all!!) but most importantly happy!! I knew I wanted the freedom to be able to do what it was I wanted to do. No restrictions.
The last three years have created a period of spiritual awakening and inner development within myself. I have fought through addictions, and depression and dealt with repressed emotions from childhood trauma I didn't even know existed, until I was willing to look at the real essence of the problem. Along the way I have met some remarkable people and have been able to open myself up to possibilities.

In the face of adversity
By the time I was thirteen years old, I had lost all four of my grandparents (A total of six close family members within two years). Three of them died from cancer. I watched with devastation as our time together was cut very short indeed. We weren't given the luxury of years together. Years turned into weeks, rapidly into days. I watched as my last grandparent Pop was taken from us within a matter of 6 months. The disease was just so merciless. I remember watching and feeling the affects it had on my family, and remember feeling so helpless. I learnt young about grief, and the different emotions associated with it. This was the first time I felt inspired to write poetry, as I thought the power of words might be enough to inspire my Pop to preserver and continue through. To live on for another day...
Through the face of darkness
I'll be strong
And in my heart
I'll carry on
A positive future I must see
the key to a world of hope
and jubilee.
Although these words weren't enough to save my pop, they ignited a interest and passion within myself. I had suddenly discovered the pleasure and influence a few words could have on myself, and people around me, although didn't recognise it at the time. At that point, I was crushed and too blinded by anger and pain. I couldn't understand why I had to lose all my grandparents when others didn't even appreciate or acknowledge theirs. All I heard was their complaints. It made me angry but a little voice inside told me in some ways I was lucky. I hadn't really lost them, as they would be with me all the time now, whenever I needed them. I realised that in some ways I had been given a gift. It was just as I had written, I just needed to find the positives. I used my emotions to fuel my passions. I decided that one day I would like to find a cure for cancer, so others would never have to go through what I had to experience.
I haven't found a cure for cancer. Instead I have chosen to adopt and develop a very eastern point of view towards medicine and the human body. I believe the body is our best ally, and can be our worst, depending on how we feed our minds, bodies and souls. It is a powerful vehicle to achieving a lifestyle of health, happiness and balance. I have made changes in my life and pursued interests such as face reading, reiki, bodytalk, meditation, yoga, and massage to broaden my understanding. I am now looking to share my information and experiences with the world. (Stay tuned for some exciting developments!)

"It doesn't interest me what you do for a living

I hope to inspire and motivate people to love themselves and who they are on the inside.
Here is a beautiful parable that was shared with me on motivating messages. It might help you think about who you really are...
A carrot, an egg, and ground coffee...
This is a parable that I received from one of my friends (Thanks Michael!) and I feel it is so appropriate to share with you all here in Motivating Messages...
You will never look at a cup of coffee the same way again. A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up.
She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose. Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil; without saying a word.
In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl. Turning to her daughter, she asked, 'Tell me what you see.'
'Carrots, eggs, and coffee,' she replied. Her mother brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft. The mother then asked the daughter to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard boiled egg. Finally, the mother asked the daughter to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled as she tasted its rich aroma. The daughter then asked, 'What does it mean, mother?'
Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity: boiling water. Each reacted differently. The carrot went in strong, hard, and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak. The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior, but after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened. The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water.
'Which are you?' she asked her daughter, 'When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean? Think of this: Which am I? Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength? Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff? Does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and hardened heart? Or am I like the coffee bean?'
The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavour. If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you.
When the hour is the darkest and trials are their greatest do you elevate yourself to another level? How do you handle adversity?
Are you a carrot, an egg or coffee?
May you have enough happiness to make you sweet,
Enough trials to make you strong,
Enough sorrow to keep you human and
Enough hope to make you happy.
The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the most of everything that comes along their way.
The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past;
You can't go forward in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.
When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling.
Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.
You might want to share this message with those people who mean something to you; to those who have touched your life in one way or another; to those who make you smile when you really need it; to those who make you see the brighter side of things when you are really down; to those whose friendship you appreciate; to those who are so meaningful in your life.
